The Reverend Joseph N. Davis became Rector of the Church of the Resurrection in August, 2007. A native Nashvillian, Fr. Joe attended Parmer School as a child and graduated from Montgomery Bell Academy and the University of the South at Sewanee. A year of law school helped him discover a vocation to the priesthood. He graduated from Nashotah House Theological Seminary in 1986 and has served in the parish priesthood ever since. Most recently, he was rector of St. Philip Church in Memphis for 14 years before coming to Resurrection. There he learned the value of a long pastorate.
Teaching, preaching, and spiritual direction are some of his greatest interests. He believes the best way the Church of today can glorify God, serve Christ, and help people is to fulfill our baptismal vow to "continue in the Apostles' teaching and fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers." He has devoted much of his effort in the past year to building a fine staff and helping to prepare the Church of the Resurrection to meet the needs of the many children and young families in the area between Bellevue, Franklin, Nashville, and Brentwood.
Fr. Joe and Cindy, his wife of 24 years, have two teenaged sons, Maclin and Paschall, and a dog named Bo.
Fr. Joe loves to read, play guitar, swim, and help his sons with their swim career, music, and academic pursuits.
