Ministries & Fellowship

Ministries and Fellowship encompass a wide range of activities, the purpose of which is to minister to one another and to bring the church family members closer to each other.  Several of those organization which foster our fellowship are the Agape Committee, Social Committee/Special Events, Breakfast Club, Hospitality Team, Senior Saints, Men's club, Kitchen Committee, Episcopal Church Women, and Supper Clubs.

Agape: Teams of laypersons ministering to fellow Parishioners, especially during times of illness or crisis by delivering food, visiting, sending cards or flowers, or providing other services as needed.

Breakfast Club: The Sunday morning Breakfast Club has grown and grown and become one of the basic cornerstones that bind us together as a family of God at Resurrection.  One only has to look at the lively tables each Sunday to appreciate what this fellowship means to our church.  It has been often remarked that this is the best breakfast "deal" in town.  Six teams of 6 to 8 people cook and serve breakfast between the early service and the Christian Education hour.  Each team has their own approach to breakfast so there is always a variety in the menu.  A small donation ($3) covers costs.

Coffee Hour: A group of volunteers, usually a family or couple, provides an array of snack foods, coffee and juices at the conclusion of every 10:30 service. This weekly event enables parishioners to meet any guests or new members as well as a chance for visiting and fellowship among friends.

Daughters of the King: An order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church and who pledge themselves to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism, members are dedicated to the spread of Christ's Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of their parishes.

Episcopal Church Women (ECW): The women at Resurrection are known for their baking abilities. Each year on the 4th of July BBQ visitors and parishioners buy their breads, cakes, cookies, pickles and preserves.  The proceeds from the bake sale fund a variety of projects including Vacation Bible School and the Women's Bible Study which follows Beth Moore and Liz Curtis Higgs studies.  Plans are currently being made for a Women's Retreat in the spring of 2009.

Hospitality Team: The Hospitality Team has been organized to provide food and beverage at Parish functions. These may include the Bishop's visits, special Parish celebrations and Memorial services.  This group of volunteers provides food preparation, serving, and clean-up.  Team members sign up for what they are able to do for each event as it arises so that the duties are spread evenly.

Kitchen Committee: This committee is a dedicated group of people who have adopted the kitchen and provide that extra care that we provide to our own homes.  They come in during the week to straighten up, clean as needed, restock supplies and keep things in good order.

Men's Club: The Men's Club meets approximately once every other month for food and fellowship.  The purpose of the Men's club is prayer, social time, and fundraising to meet the needs of Resurrection.  The primary fund raising activity is the 4th of July BBQ which has become an annual tradition in Franklin.  In December of each year the Men go to the "Mountain" (at Monteagle, TN) for a retreat.  On Shrove Tuesday, the Men's Club sponsors a Pancake Supper to benefit the youth ministry.  All men of the parish are automatically members of the Men's Club with no dues or fees.

The Order of St. Luke: A ministry team part of a body of Christians who believe that the healing of the body, mind and spirit is a vital part of the total ministry of Jesus Christ who heals today as he did when he walked on earth. The Order is committed to the belief that God's healing power operates within the church, which is the body of Christ on earth, through its membership and that the healing of the body, mind and spirit is a vital part of the total ministry of Jesus Christ. Resurrection's chapter members feel called to make Jesus' Ministry of Healing a regular part of their vocation and work with the understanding that Christian Healing and competent medical practice are not averse, but complimentary to each other.

Prayer Chain: A group of parishioners committed to praying for the needs of our parish family. Prayer needs are communicated to the rector or office, and a request for prayer is sent by email to all persons on the church's broadcast email distribution list. Certain persons on the email distribution list then make phone contact with those prayer chain members who do not use email.

Resurrection Herald: An informative monthly parish newsletter that helps keep us connected via communication of information about special events coming up in the life of the parish and thought provoking articles that give us insight into one another's thoughts, ideas, and feelings.

Senior Saints: This group is primarily a service ministry focused on meeting the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our seniors (ages 55 and above).  The group meets monthly for lunch and a program or activity as a way of checking in with one another or learning of individual needs within the parish.

Social Committee/Special Events: The purpose of the Social Committee is to have events that promote fellowship among church members of all ages outside the confines of the church walls.  We are a committee of four couples and try to have a wide variety of activities throughout the year that give you a chance to meet the person beside you in the pew on another level... we sometimes just do something fun, but it might be a little educational, a bit of a challenge or a surprise for you! Among these have been road rallies to mystery destinations, a river day-cruise, a trip to All Saints Chapel in Sewanee for the Festival of Lessons and Carols, a New Orleans Mardi Gras night, and much more. We are so blessed to be located in this beautiful setting and have so many opportunities to explore.  Keep your eyes posted for future events!  We'd love to have you join us!

Supper Groups: Open to all adults, supper groups are social, informal gatherings of approximately eight persons. A popular way to get to know each other, and newcomers, supper groups meet once a mouth for four onths after which members are shuffled, and new groups are formed. The group takes turns meeting in each of the member's homes, serving a potluck meal, or going out to eat as a group.
