Children's Ministries

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd:

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is an approach to the religious formation of children, 3-12 years of age.  Children have a deep need for God that is matched by their unique ability to enjoy his presence  It is rooted in the Bible, the liturgy of the church, and the educational principles of Maria Montessori who so well understood the young child's need for concrete experiences

The children gather in the Atrium, a room specially prepared for them which contains beautiful yet simple materials they use.  Catechists lead children through presentations on parables, the sacraments, and the liturgy of the church.  After the theme is presented, the child is free to choose an activity that will reinforce the lesson he/she heard.  The program uses a hands-on approach that provides children a chance to work with three-dimensional maps, miniature environments and figures, art supplies, and practical activities.

The Church of the Resurrection now has two atria with Level I for ages three - five and Level II which serves children six - nine.

At the present time, children in grades 4-5 study from the David C. Cook Anglican curriculum with topics such as Historical Tradition, Growing in the Word, and Heroes of the
Faith.

Little Lambs Preschool

Little Lambs Preschool is a two day program for children ages 2-5.  Classes are either on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 - 2:00.  The mission of Little Lambs is to provide a Christian environment for young children where they can develop cognitively, physically, spiritually, socially and emotionally.  The teachers of Little Lambs follow a Christian curriculum that includes Bible stories and Christian songs and prayer along with lessons and activities that develop pre-reading and mathematical skills, gross and fine motor development and social interaction skills.

This preschool is an outreach of our parish and we are here to support the parents and children in our community.  For more information, you may call Pat Smith at 377-6722.

Youth Group / Ministry:

The youth group at the Church of the Resurrection seeks to include all 6-12th grade students and foster authentic community which seeks to know, trust, and follow Christ.  We also strive to develop a web of adult support around each youth so that they may connect to the body of Christ here in this church and the larger Church body beyond.  More about Youth Group / Ministry
