Youth Ministry
Youth Group
Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)
The youth group at the church
of the Resurrection includes all 6-12th grade students and seeks to be
an authentic community of reconciliation exploring the abundant
adventure of following Christ.
We also strive to develop a web of adult support around each
youth so that they may connect to the body of Christ here in this
church and the larger Church body beyond.
We seek to support the
parents and families as they raise their children through parent
classes, book clubs, and weekly parent updates concerning the youth
group and the world of adolescents.
Our goal is to allow youth
to connect with each other, grow alongside adults of the congregation,
and connect their faith in Christ to daily life. EYC meets each
Sunday evening in the youth room from 4:30-6:30. A typical youth group
meeting includes games, fellowship, group discussion, music, prayer,
and dinner provided by parents. During the summer months we do not meet Sundays but take weekday mystery trips. For current info please contact
jill.altom@comcast.netThe EYC is also committed to
service in the local community through Room In the Inn, Trips to NHC Place, New
Orleans, Mountain T.O.P. and Sewanee. The youth at resurrection participate in retreats, diocese
youth events, and are involved in the life of the church as acolytes,
readers and leaders of Youth Sunday
services.

Our Youth Minister
Jill Hayley Altom I
grew up in the Episcopal church in San Antonio, Texas and my faith was greatly impacted by my
church and youth group in junior high and high school.
I received a BA in Psychology at Sewanee, The University of the South and
graduated in 2004. I worked as the youth director for Emmanuel
Episcopal Church from 2004-2006 and moved to Nashville in 2006 in
order to take classes in theology and youth ministry at CYMT (the Center for Youth Ministry Training) and Vanderbilt Divinity. I spent two years with the
youth and families at First Presbyterian church in Murfreesboro before joining Resurrection in 2008.
I am married to Clayton Altom and we love living in Nashville. We enjoy hiking in Percy Warner Park,
playing racquetball, traveling, cooking and living life together as a part of the community of believers.
